The Church Commissioners' spending for parish-level work reflects their long-standing commitment to support the Church's ministry where there are needs and opportunities.
A specific allocation is set aside for mission development funding, which is channelled through dioceses. This helps promote new and innovative projects which can support community action, and many are linked with the 'fresh expressions' agenda.
Mission development funding helps dioceses develop new Church ministry through investment in parish mission initiatives. The money is shared between dioceses, and to date some £45 million has supported projects across the Church. An illustrated leaflet on the first triennium's projects appeared in 2006, and in 2008 a full report was produced on experiences across the dioceses over 2002-07 with pointers for future effectiveness.
